WHY TWEED

"The Tweed Run is a fabulously quirky event where participants don their finest tweeds and brogues and cycling through London, stopping along the way to take tea, have a picnic, and ending with an old fashion knees-up in the afternoon.

The first Tweed Run happened in 2009, when  300 tweed-clad cyclists gathered at the top of London’s Savile Row on a chilly February morning. Since then, we have watched our baby grow from that small guerrilla event to an event that has captured the imagination of the fashion world and cycling enthusiast around the globe. Today, we host Tweed Runs around the globe, but our flagship event will always be the London Tweed Run.

At our events, we welcome an unparalleled mix of smiling, tweed clad ladies and gentlemen for what many call “the most fun I’ve ever had on a bike!” Famed New York Times style photographer Bill Cunningham once dubbed us a “reinvention of the catwalk.” Esquire enthuses that the Tweed Run was on the “scratchy tip” of fashion. GQ credited us with bringing Tweed back into popularity, and BikeBiz suggested that we helped to save the Harris Tweed industry, which previous to 2009 was floundering. In 2013, for our fifth birthday, our ride was documented in the Museum of London’s film footage of the era as a culturally significant movement."
